This program addresses the specialized skills for the design and use of relational databases. It is a basic unit of this advanced and applied computer science course. The training allows students to acquire in-depth knowledge of the daily administration of the relational database. SQL is the industry standard language used to store information such as websites and business applications. At the end of this training, students will be able to
1. Summarize data needs in data models using the entity-relational model and design relational databases;
2. Design appropriate queries with SQL language to adapt and translate data into useful information for users;
3. Evaluate and rationalize the design of databases with functional dependencies and normal forms;
4. Propose and design query optimization, transaction management and security for relational database management systems; and
5. Demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and creative application capacity relating to relational data model and relational database management systems.
